Benefits for Leaders

  1. Enhanced Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving
Action learning sets offer a space to explore complex issues deeply, moving beyond superficial solutions to develop more sophisticated and innovative approaches.
  2. Improved Self-Awareness
Through peer feedback and dedicated reflection time, participants gain insights into their own behavioural patterns, biases, and tendencies, which helps in personal growth and leadership development.
  3. Development of Interpersonal Skills
Participants learn to give and receive support and challenge from peers, which strengthens their listening, questioning, and feedback abilities.
  4. Promotes Reflective Practice
Action learning provides a structured way to reflect on past events and plan for the future, enabling a deeper understanding of challenges and opportunities.
  5. Encourages Collaborative Leadership
The non-hierarchical and trusting environment of action learning sets encourages diverse individuals to work together, share ideas, and challenge perceptions, which is crucial for collaborative leadership.
  6. Experiential Learning
Unlike purely theoretical training, action learning allows participants to immediately apply new learning to their own workplace issues, making the learning more practical and impactful.
  7. Increased Confidence and Motivation
Working through challenges with supportive peers can build confidence and lead to increased job satisfaction, encouraging lifelong learning habits.

How it works

Peer-to-Peer Coaching:
In a small group (set), each person presents a real challenge or problem and receives coaching from the others in the group, who use insightful questioning rather than giving advice.

Structured Reflection:
Regular sessions provide dedicated time to step back from immediate tasks, reflect on actions taken, and plan future steps, fostering a deeper understanding of the problem and its context.
Action-Oriented Approach:
The goal is not just to discuss problems but to identify and take concrete, impactful actions to address them, making learning tangible and results-driven.

A great few days, insightful and showed the effectiveness of action learning. It was very experiential and practical based so you truly experience action learning as well as understanding the role of facilitator
