20th Anniversary Celebration – thanks for a wonderful day!

As many of you know Action Learning Associates celebrated its 20thAnniversary in December with an event held at the Lumen Rooms in London.

We were delighted that so many of our friends, customers and associates could join us for a wonderful day of action learning workshops, talks and a chance to catch up with one another over a glass of wine.

Our sincere thanks go to Lou Drake, Director of Programmes and Leadership Innovation at Clore Social Leadership, Charlotte Jones, CEO of Independent Theatre Council, and Dr Raj Thamotheram, Founder and Chair of Preventable Surprises who all gave talks and spoke so warmly about what action learning means to them and their organisations.

A special thanks too to Charlotte Millar, Head of Training at New Economy Organisers Network who joined us to contribute her thoughts via a Zoom call from Edinburgh, such was her desire to join in the celebrations.

Our workshops on mindfulness, virtual action learning, action learning for leadership and action learning for social change were all hugely popular and we are grateful to Associates Andrew Odgers, Di Bligh and John Heywood for hosting these groups, along with ALA Director Sonja Antell.

Thanks too to Mandy Hetherton for giving our guests the chance to experience action learning as she conducted an action learning set.

Our tree of inspiration revealed lots of incredible reasons why action learning means so much to so many. Statements such as:

“Action learning is where I have made all of the important decisions in my life”

“The best approach to professional development in my career but also a radically safe place to bring my ‘whole self’, share, reflect, learn and connect with others”

“A miraculous method for problem solving. A life saving space for reflection. An opportunity to deepen my understanding of leadership though listening to others”

The event was a huge success, and we are genuinely thankful to all who attended, some of whom travelled from afar and abroad to be there.

I was touched and humbled too when presented with a lifetime achievement momento in the form of a book filled with contributions from many of my associates, clients and friends – I shall treasure it forever.
