– The course can be completed virtually or in person at our workspace in Bermondsey Street, London
– Our course has been part of the ILM Recognised programme since 2008 and many participants go on to complete the Advanced Programme in Action Learning Facilitation (ILM Recognised)
Often, cohorts from our facilitator training programmes stay together to complete this advanced programme around 6-9 months later. Find out more here.
– As a more experienced facilitator, you can come back to ALA for a variety of CPD programmes to build your network and develop your practice further.
Participants come from the public, voluntary and private sectors. Some are employed within organisations, others are freelance. Some are full-time facilitators, others work in management and leadership or learning and development roles.
All find useful approaches and techniques to inspire or revive their practice and become competent action learning facilitators. You can join the course with or without experience of taking part in an action learning set.
We’re here if you’d like to have a chat, just contact us. You can also take a look at what some of our past participants have to say about their training.
You’re welcome to join. We’ve been welcoming international participants for years. Please get in touch with any questions you have. We have been running action learning facilitator training virtually for many years and work across different time zones to suit participants.
Please check out our resource centre for more insight into what it’s like to participate in this course. Simply select ‘facilitator training’ in the subject field. Start with articles such as Reflections on an action learning facilitator training set, Sharing questions, not cleverness and Exploring new horizons with action learning. Also, read some of our testimonials.
On our open courses, individuals come together from a variety of contexts – different organisations and sectors as well as independent facilitators – and meet virtually or in person.
We also run tailored courses in-house for organisations. If you wish to train a group of action learning facilitators, this may be the best option for you. We can work with your teams virtually or face-to-face, onsite or at a venue of your choice. Read more about how your organisation can benefit here.
A fantastic way to learn about action learning sets and a solid grounding of the skills needed to be in a set and facilitate sets. The programme is structured perfectly to enhance the learning experience and to be able to take in a huge amount of information.

Advanced learning programme
Course participants can further their skills through our Recognised Programme in Action Learning Facilitation (ILM Recognised). We believe your skills can be further advanced with continued opportunity to develop your practice and learning so the process involves producing an assessed reflective learning log and attending an additional development day, usually around six – nine months (ideally no more than a year) after the training. These sessions provide an opportunity for peer support and are a valuable way to reflect on your learning and share experiences with other practitioners. For overseas participants we are also able to offer advanced learning by virtual action learning.
Our advanced learning programme is entirely optional; you do not need to commit to attend at the same time as booking the course.
Cancellations and refunds
Cancellations must be received in writing by email to info@actionlearningassociates.co.uk. Deposit payments are non-refundable. If you cancel after paying the full fee, or within 4 weeks of the course, we can only refund the balance of the fee if we are able to find a replacement. This is because courses are experiential with a limited number of participants so any late cancellation can affect the learning experience for other participants.
There will be no charge if a substitute person from the same company/organisation wishes to replace the original booking.
Cancellations by Action Learning Associates Ltd
