Pauline Gladstone-Barrett


Pauline Gladstone is a freelance consultant with extensive experience in arts education, the creative and cultural sectors and the criminal justice system. In her consultancy work Pauline is able to draw on her impressive background as a former Head Teacher, Training Manager for Clean Break Theatre Company and Co- Director of a national umbrella organisation for arts in social inclusion and criminal justice.

With over 7 years experience as an independent consultant Pauline provides a healthy mix of training, action learning and group facilitation as well as working with small-scale charities on organisational and staff development and fundraising.

Action Learning Facilitation

Pauline is an experienced action learning facilitator and approved by the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) to deliver ALA’s ILM accredited training for action learning facilitators. Pauline is currently or has recently delivered in-house action learning sets for a wide range of organisations within the arts sector including Creative Partnerships, CP East Midlands, Norfolk & Norwich Festivals and Dance United. She has delivered a series of action learning sets over three years for the Independent Theatre Council (ITC).

Facilitation and training

Pauline works as a group facilitator and trainer and offers a range of training courses which tackle issues of social inclusion, working with challenging groups and team building. She has delivered training courses for both national arts organisations and local charities which include working with groups, problem solving, team building and negotiation, managing conflict and working with vulnerable and volatile groups or challenging young people. Over three years she has run a series of training programmes on working with challenging young people or groups for the ITC including at the Old Vic, National Theatre, Step out Arts and Dream Arts.

Pauline’s current and recent customers for action learning facilitation include Arts Council England, Creative Partnerships, ITC and Dance United. Her training customers include National Youth Theatre, University of Creative Arts, National Youth Orchestra, Quarterhouse, Mancroft Advice Centre, Dance United and ITC.
