Jane Garnham

Senior Associate

Jane has over thirty years of experience working with staff, leaders and people using services in the not-for-profit sector. She has enjoyed interim work notably supporting Community Action Southwark through a change period and supporting staff and services through a restructure of Rethink Mental Health services across England.

She is passionate about supporting people to develop independent thinking, enabling their voices to be heard and, through this, contribute to higher quality services and projects. Jane has expertise in Housing & Support, Mental Health and Recovery, and Co-Production. Underpinning her work are a set of values about the potential, and often hidden talents, of people to achieve great things.

Action learning facilitation

Jane discovered action learning in 1999 being part of an ALA facilitated set for managers at Rethink Mental Illness. Since becoming an accredited AL Facilitator, she has facilitated hundreds of sets for managers, leaders and trustees. She has a particular interest in looking at how action learning can support wellbeing and has been involved in piloting sets for individuals who use mental health services. She has also led a programme for an NHS trust for the last four years providing action learning to newly registered nurses as part of their preceptorship. She delivers AL facilitator training, both face to face and virtually. Jane has been a member of the International Foundation for Action Learning for almost a decade and has been part of the Executive Committee since 2016.

Coaching, facilitation and training

Alongside action learning, Jane is a qualified coach and now delivers Institute of Leadership & Management Coaching and Mentoring qualification courses at Level 3 and 5. She is particularly interested in the work of Nancy Kline (Time to Think) and seeks to integrate the Ten Components of the Thinking Environment into her work. Jane delivers team building and leadership and management development programmes. She is also experienced in facilitating away days and review days for people who use services, staff and trustees.
