DIY handbook
The DIY Handbook for Action Learners provides a simple, practical yet highly visual and inspiring guide for those who want to use action learning to make progress in their life and work. Developed as a resource to inspire people to learn together in order to make sustainable service improvements within the NHS, the award winning DIY Handbook is now used extensively within a wide range of organisations. Its key messages, which are positive, enabling and focused on leadership through practical action, are universal in their appeal.
The handbook was designed and developed as a partnership between academia, NHS services and NHS Service users. The inspiring artwork was created in partnership with the service users of a brain injury rehabilitation centre. The handbook was written by Dr Mandy Chivers, Assistant Chief Executive of Mersey Care NHS with responsibility for learning within the Trust and a fellow of the Revans Centre. Co-writer, Mike Pedler, is a leading academic in organisational learning and management education.

“This is the simplest but most comprehensive resource on action learning that I have ever used. I now include a copy of the DIY Handbook for Action Learners in our training workbook for action learning facilitators.”
