Project Management

Peer Consultancy
ALA offers a common-sense approach to managing projects together with the tools and techniques to help project managers get the very best out of themselves and the people they manage.

Project Management: Leading, managing and facilitating projects as if people mattered.

We’ve borrowed our title from E. F. Schumacher’s influential book ‘Small is Beautiful: Economics as if people mattered’. Schumacher’s central belief was that modern society had lost touch with basic human needs and values. The same could be said of mainstream project management methodologies which choose not to recognise that change associated with projects is as much about engaging with values, beliefs and feelings as it is about successful task delivery.

Traditional project management training deals effectively with the technical aspects of managing projects. However, it usually overlooks the fact that real projects involve real people who must perform the tasks required. Individuals, teams, functional groups, departments, organisations, customers and suppliers may all contribute to a project’s success or be affected by the changes it brings. Each will have discrete, and possibly contrasting, requirements and expectations; distinct hopes and concerns as well as diverse attitudes towards both the project and those involved. All of these issues need to be recognised, acknowledged and resolved throughout the project’s life.

People centred experiential programme for project managers

Action Learning Associates has created an experiential programme which offers a thorough, common-sense approach to managing projects together with the tools and techniques to help project managers get the very best out of themselves and the people they manage.

Bring a real project to the sessions and your group will collaboratively define, plan and schedule it as well as consider how to effectively manage delivery, closure and review.

This is a facilitated programme, rather a training programme. Each programme is fully adapted to meet your group’s needs and to fit the context within which you work.

To discuss how we can tailor a course to meet your organisation’s needs please contact us or telephone 0207 407 1971. We are happy to provide initial consultations and proposals free of charge.
