Leadership Facilitation Skills course 2010-11
Applications are now open for the very popular Leadership Facilitation Skills funded by the Cultural Leadership Programme (CLP). Action Learning Associates are offering total immersion courses on action learning facilitation for established, senior and mid career leaders working in the UK cultural and creative industries. Learn the techniques at the same time as being in an action learning set. Leave with full accreditation from the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM).
How action learning facilitation can improve your leadership skills
After the course you could:
- Iinitiate and run your own action learning sets
- Use the action learning facilitation techniques in other meetings, collaborative partnerships or programmes
- Improve vital soft skills – listening, questioning and understanding people
Who can apply?
Senior leaders and those in mid career from all UK cultural sectors especially heritage, museums, archives, music, craft, design and advertising. We are particularly keen to have more applicants from the East of England, East & West Midlands and Yorkshire. For full details of eligibility see the FAQ’s or visit the CLP website.
What happens in the course?
The first three days involve total immersion in action learning. You take part in a set yourself, observe how it works and finally practice running a meeting. After a two month gap you take part in two follow-on days to analyse the process and establish how to be an effective facilitator. It’s learning by doing. It’s stimulating and successful.
Who leads it?
These courses are led by ALA’s founding director Ruth Cook, plus Senior Associates Katie Venner and Di Bligh. All are familiar with the special circumstances of life in the cultural sector and are dedicated to sharing their facilitation skills in a challenging but supportive manner.
The qualification
Participants are offered the chance to become accredited action learning facilitators after the five day programme through an Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) approved Professional Development Programme.
Where?
We will decide the locations based on successful applications – we plan to run four courses with at least one in the Midlands, the others are likely to be in London but it depends on demand.
