Action Learning Associates
Jane Garnham
Jane has been working in the voluntary sector for over twenty years, developing and managing housing and support services to a range of client groups. Jane has worked with statutory providers, housing associations and small agencies, to deliver high quality housing and support services to vulnerable people and to lead and support the staff delivering the services.
Her work has been characterised by a focus on developing the human resource, ensuring services operate within an equality and diversity framework and promoting the opportunities for the user’s voice to be heard when planning, developing and managing services.
Action learning facilitation
For the past six years Jane has been working independently providing training, facilitation and consultancy services. She has worked as an Associate with Sitra, the leading agency in the provision of training, consultancy and information to the Supported Housing Sector. Jane has a particular interest in the group process and her own experience of action learning in 1998 inspired her to develop skills in action learning facilitation. She has trained as a counsellor and she brings the qualities of listening, authenticity and reflection to action learning.
Jane has facilitated both in house sets and cross organisational sets. Currently, Jane is leading a project, in partnership with Westminster Mind and Hammersmith & Fulham Mind, to pilot action learning for people who use mental health services. This has involved project planning and development, recruiting service users to participate and facilitating the sets. The pilot project is due to be initially evaluated at the end of 2008.
Facilitation and training
Jane is a skilled facilitator and is currently working with two customer / service user groups to develop their capacity to influence and make an impact on their provider organisations. An experienced trainer Jane has been devising and delivering training programmes for over 10 years. Initially these focussed on improving the skill and knowledge base of individual employees.
More recently Jane has developed training materials for people who use housing and support services and delivers team building and management development programmes.
